How to kill a Windows Service

Sometimes a service is not working fine and you need to kill it, you do not want to reboot the server, you know take long time to reboot some servers. So how to kill a Windows service?

1. Open command prompt run it like administrator

2.  Now we will query one service, in this occasion I queried a cisco service in my machine:

sc queryex CVPND

3. Write down the PID, in this occasion is 2280

4. Now we kill the process typing:

taskkill /f /pid 2280

5. Now lets query the process again:

sc queryex CVPND

Notice the process is in stopped state:

For maintenance and sometimes when you are working in security you need to kill the process by commands.
